Bonjour, Blogger!: Polly
Every Sunday, we ask one of our favourite bloggers some questions about their blog history. This week is the turn of Polly – a student in London who loves handbags and fashion even more than we do!
Location: South of England, often London, off to Barcelona in September!
Blog URL: www.hellopolly.org
What is your blog about? Bring on the clichés – it’s about what me – what I love, what drives me to distraction, what I feel like talking utter rubbish about.
Is this your first blog? No! Gosh, no. I’ve started, made some attempts at, and given up on plenty of them over the last six years or so.
When did you start your current blog? August of 2012.
What made you do it? Lunacy. I’m not sure what else.
What was your first blog post about? How to contact me! After that…the results of my failed attempt to give up Diet Coke.
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger? My camera.
Do people in your “real life” know about your blog? Yes, for better or worse.
Has your blog helped you career wise? Not really, apparently having a blog doesn’t give you extra credit in Spanish tutorial essays. Who’d have thought.
If you don’t tell people about your blog, do you purposefully keep it a secret? Not applicable. Yes, I’m sometimes a little embarrassed of it – I mean, I write about makeup, it takes some gumption to say THAT out loud without people taking you for a floozy.
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) you’ve been really proud of? I’m so proud of writing about my eating disorder, and of being able to put it out there. Not for attention, but for awareness, and realising what a great support network the Internet can be.
Where do you see your blog in a year? In Barcelona!
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog? That sometimes, life gets in the way and it’s a real struggle to remember it exists, let alone to write even the most perfunctory of blog posts.
What do you wish you know about now? I’m going to suggest someone think of a way of increasing the number of hours in the day.
How do you keep motivated to post? This is an excellent question, because right now I’m battling exams and have no motivation to post.
Anything else you’d like to add? “Blog” is a really ugly word. Can we invent a new one too, while we’re extending the hours in the day?
Thanks Polly! Go check out her blog – www.hellopolly.org – she’s supposed to be studying for exams, but we’re sure we can distract her with lovely comments!
