What is your blog about?
MoiMinnie focuses on covering personal style, visual identity, DIY’s, essays on art, fashion, beauty and culture, as well as travel diaries. The blog aspires to represent a simple yet stylish lifestyle whilst remaining affordable.

Is this your first blog?
Yes and no. I actually first started blogging on Tumblr in 2009; the blog followed latest happenings in fashion and beauty, with occasional posts of my personal photos (the blog still exists, I use it as a more fast-paced photo blog, you can find it at In 2010 I made a decision to move on to blogging about personal style and that’s how MoiMinnie came to be. So it is a first serious blog :)

When did you start your current blog?
In October of 2010.

What made you do it?
I felt very inspired to share my style, beauty tricks and opinion on various subjects after years of taking photos of my outfits and storing them on my laptop. I figured it was a much easier way of organizing and keeping track of everything. Somewhere along the way, it stopped being just a personal stylebook and became a regular stop for many lovely people!

What was your first blog post about?
It was about my obsession for stripes and you can actually still see it here: !

What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger?
The internet itself. The research, the connections, the resources, the inspiration, the friendships – even if the blog was an offline entity, I don’t think it would not be possible to sustain it for a long time (5 years in my case)

Do people in your real life know about your blog? If yes, has your blog helped you career wise?
I don’t keep it a secret, but I don’t talk about it anywhere and everywhere either. I’m just happy that a lot of people come to me and express their thoughts of my blog – usually positive ones! It’s always nice to hear someone appreciates your hard work and enjoys what you do. It makes me happy.
Career wise, you do get to meet a lot more people and make connections through blogging. I ultimately want to work in a publication (printed or online) or at a fashion/textile design company so we’ll see if the blogging winds manage to take me there!

What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) that you have been really proud of?
In a totally non-humble opinion, I am very proud of what MoiMinnie achieved so far in general. I feel like it genuinely speaks to people and that my readers are very engaged with it. Also, it was featured in many publications including magazines like Elle, Grazia, The MEN and portals such as Buro 24/7, MTV Canada etc…
Few articles from MoiMinnie peaked at #1 in Google Search with my ultimate guide on bleaching hair ( being the most successful yet!

Where do you see your blog in a year?
Everywhere haha!
I am looking forward to meeting new readers and working with some new amazing people, we’ll see what happens! :)

What do you wish you knew when starting your blog?
I wish someone told me how much work it was if you plan on having a successful blog. High quality content doesn’t happen by itself, you need to invest a lot of thought, planning and time executing your idea.
I also wish someone told me how much I would fall in love with it and that it would be impossible to quit, even when it all gets too much.

What do you wish you know more about now?
I really wish I studied programming and web design instead of textile and apparel design! My life would be sooo much easier concerning the technical side of blogging and my boyfriend would have more free time haha

How do you keep motivated to post?
I’ve been blogging for 5 years, so now it’s just second nature. I’m always brainstorming, researching, reading and trying to be better at what I do – even when I’m “relaxing”. Seeing people coming back every time you post and enjoying your content just solidifies your will and motivates you further.
