What is your blog about? Fashion, food and things to do in London. It was meant to be a beauty blog when I started out but I started finding more inspiration in my everyday life and the city I live in and just went with it!
Is this your first blog? Yes – I used to have a Livejournal and ran an Elijah Wood fansite in my younger days but this is my first foray into blogging.
When did you start your current blog? October 2009.
What made you do it? I was in my final year of a law degree and needed somewhere where I could escape from reading lists and exam stress. I’d read an article in the Metro the week before about blogging and just decided to start it up one evening – four years on and I’m still doing it!
What was your first blog post about? I think it was a survey on the make-up I was currently using.
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger? Twitter – talking to other bloggers really helped me feel involved and build up a network of blogging friends, many of whom are now “real life” friends too.
Do people in your “real life” know about your blog? They do now! I kept it a closely guarded secret when I was started out as I was worried that people would laugh at it. Now I tell people about it – non-bloggers find it interesting, although I think some of my male friends are still a bit baffled by it all. For me blogging is a hobby so I don’t see it any differently to what anyone may want to do with their spare time.
If yes, has your blog helped you career wise? No – I work in the City so its not really relevant to my career but I did style and star in a shoot for my work’s magazine which was fun and something I wouldn’t have done if I didn’t blog.
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) you’ve been really proud of? There’s not one post in particular but I think my writing has got better since I’ve started blogging and I love getting comments from my readers on something that I’ve written.
Where do you see your blog in a year? Hopefully carrying on how I am now and still enjoying it all.
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog? How to crop and edit photos. Thank goodness for Google’s Picasa.
What do you wish you know about now? How to do html properly.
How do you keep motivated to post? I’m incapable of relaxing – I like to always feel like there’s something I “need” to do and blogging gives me that, I treat it a bit like a second job but one that I absolutely love doing.
Anything else you’d like to add? Thank you for featuring me! And to anyone who’s thinking of starting a blog, do – you never know where it will take you and what you’ll learn along the way.
