What is your blog about? It’s mainly beauty based but I like to throw in the odd fashion and lifestyle post.
Is this your first blog? Yep!
When did you start your current blog? I started it in 2009 as a place to display my published and unpublished writing work. Kind of like an online CV for potential employees and I just kind of fell into writing about beauty and fashion.
What made you do it? I really can’t remember! I was just looking for a platform to show my writing and also write and post new reviews on.
What was your first blog post about? I think it was some sort of CD review
What do you think is the most useful tool to you as a blogger? Social media is probably the most useful tool as it’s a great way to interact with existing and potential new readers.
Do people in your “real life” know about your blog? Yes, my family and a few friends do
If yes, has your blog helped you career wise? I would like to think it helped a little with getting my current position, people certainly seem interested in it when they see it on my CV
What has been the one thing (blog post, project, etc) you’ve been really proud of? Reaching 1,000 followers! I know it’s not all about followers and blah blah blah but to know that so many people are interested in what I have to say is great. I’ve watched other blogs start up and gather thousands of followers in no time, which always got me down as I wondered if my blog was any good or not but now I’ve reached quite a milestone and it feels great!
Where do you see your blog in a year? I will probably still be doing the same sort of things, hopefully it will include much more content and improved images.
What do you wish you knew when starting your blog? How much fun it would be then I might have created a blog earlier!
How do you keep motivated to post? It’s difficult as I do most of my blog writing during weekends and sometimes I just want to spend the weekend relaxing and not on the computer writing, which is what I do every day of the week already so it is difficult to keep motivated but when I see people commenting and leaving their opinions it makes it all worthwhile.
Anything else you’d like to add? Blogging is a hobby for most people and sometimes they take it much too seriously. It’s ok to take a break for a week or so if you don’t feel like posting and it’s ok to post about whatever you want, it doesn’t have to be the latest expensive skincare that you’ve been sent for free to review. It’s your blog so write about whatever you like! It’s meant to be fun!
